Based on my research which was undertaken between May and September, this documentary will focus on the mental and physical strength that is required in the sport of Women’s artistic Gymnastics.
The film will reflect upon the life girls involved in elite gymnastics and their training regime. It will follow them to show their journey through the sport and display what it takes to be an elite gymnast. The film portrays the high level of training that girls involved at an elite competitive level go through which will display the strength, determination, confidence and passion that the sport requires.
The conclusion will show how being involved in Gymnastics at an elite level becomes much of a lifestyle to the girls as it demonstrates that in order to succeed in the sport you would need to be very dedicated.
The documentary will be an exploratory one, looking into the life of elite gymnasts. It will show the amount of time, money, dedication, and physical and mental strength that goes into become an elite. This is the side of gymnastics that isn't seen in competitions; it will show the audience the life that it takes to make gymnastics the biggest crowd-pleaser at the Olympic games.
The coach has a big impact on the athletes' career and their training therefore the coach will have a large impact on the film, mainly by the use of their voices moving the film along in a "voice of god" informative style.
Intended Audience
The target audience for “More than a Sport” includes those that are not very well informed about gymnastics and want to know more about what it takes to be involved in the sport and those already involved that dream of making it to an Olympics and can be more informed from watching the documentary about the life of someone already at that level.
