Technical aspects:

In documentary film making technical aspects such as filming and editing are extremely relevant as they are what puts the idea into an actual film. Being the sole film-maker I need to consider what technology I will be using as it needs to be convenient.

Filming:
I will be filming on the Canon 600d. This camera is easily portable, full HD and works well on tripods and shoulder mounts. The full HD is needed as I want to heavily focus on the visual aspects. Some examples of visuals I intend to create using this kit would be extreme close up of the chalk being used by the athletes possibly as openers and closers to the film, slow motion of certain gymnast moves and also close ups of faces during interviews as I would like the camera to create an intimate setting for the viewer so they really feel close to the action.

Mounts:
I will be using both a tripod and shoulder mount for the filming. The tripod is necessary when wanting stationary shots of such things as a floor routine and interviews. The shoulder mount will be very useful when needing to follow the gymnasts while they train as it will be stable and then I will be able to hold the gun mic at the same time.

Sound:
I intend to record my sound using a mirantz and gun mic. This choice was made as a gun mic is good to use interchangeably indoor and outdoor situations and a mirantz is easily portable when also using a shoulder mount.

Editing:
For the editing I intend to use final cut pro as it is a software I have used in the past and feel very comfortable with. My intentions for the editing are to be a mixture of fast, quick shots during the opening to build up to the title and then as the film moves along the editing become more poetic to better demonstrate the emotion and passion.
